DUQUE-DE-ALBA SWORD

I purchased this Toledo sword on eBay.  There are many nice (and new) reproductions of this sword for sale on the internet --- but I chose this one.  It has character and looks old.  After the purchase I decided to check out the history of the Duque De Alba family and the various members.  To my surprise,  not only was it a very interesting family --- I also found that  part of the family went back to King James and the House of Stuart.  Lord Byron's mother is a decendant of  King James of Scotland and the House of Stuart.

George Gordon was the maternal grandfather of poet, Lord George Gordon Byron.  He was a descendant of the House of Stuart by King James I of Scotland's daughter, Annabella, who married  George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly.
